Night Sky
By Bianca Slade
$645.00
Many nights I wake, wide awake, with hours to fill before sleep comes again.
On this particular night I walked around my backyard and I saw the most magnificent sky I had ever seen. It lasted just a moment, and for the remainder of that night and the days that followed, that moment replayed in my mind.
If I had been asleep, if I had been under city lights, if I had been looking down and not up, I would have missed that moment.
Despite loving its beauty I don’t often see the night sky. I live in a cold climate and I dodge those frigid temperatures, I get around in layers upon layers and I hide inside until the sun comes out again.
But when I do see it, when I stand alone and absorb the vastness, I find it always brings me back; to presence, to my own insignificance, to the constant passing of all things; time, life, experiences, night, day, it seems everything has a season.
This painting is a reminder of not only the well known words, ‘this too shall pass’, but also of the magic in the little everyday moments, the ones we can easily miss.
